Barcode

The pattern of lines on a set box that a shop scans at the till. It encodes the product's number.

Where this comes up

Every boxed set carries a retail barcode: an EAN-13 in Europe and a UPC-A in North America. BrickDb's set-box scanner reads it and finds the set. The barcode on a collectable minifigure box identifies the series and not the figure inside.
