A sign of your own words, built from bricks
Type a name, a greeting or a motto, pick a font and colours, and BrickDb turns it into a framed sign of LEGO® bricks - with the parts list and step-by-step instructions.
Type one to three lines and watch the sign take shape as you type. Choose one of nine fonts, the letter height, bold, italic or underline, the alignment, how it is built - studs forward or stacked plates - and the colours of the letters, the background and the frame. BrickDb only offers colours the parts are made in today and tells you why the others are missing. When it looks right, build it: you get a picture of the finished sign, the parts list with a Rebrickable file and a BrickLink wanted list, and the instructions one step at a time. Your text is not saved.
Which fonts and sizes can a brick sign have?
Nine fonts, from clean and serif to script and two pixel fonts, between 5 and 15 rows tall - each from the height at which its letters still keep their shape. A line can be up to 64 studs wide, and a sign up to three lines tall.
Studs forward or stacked plates?
Studs forward builds the letters as a smooth face of square tiles on a panel, easiest to read even when small. Stacked plates builds them like a wall, one plate a row, so the letters come out wide and the sign takes fewer parts. Either way the sign gets a frame of bricks and stands on a foot or leans on a stand.
Who it is for
For anyone who wants their own words in bricks: a name on a door, a greeting for a birthday, a motto on a shelf.

Frequently asked questions
How do I build my name from LEGO® bricks?
Type it into BrickDb's brick text designer, choose a font and colours, and you get the parts list and step-by-step instructions for a framed sign, without an account.
Why can't I choose every colour?
A sign needs its small plates or tiles in every colour it uses, and not every colour is made in them today. The designer offers only colours you can buy the parts in, and "Why isn't my colour here?" names the reason for each of the others.
Is the text I type saved?
No. The sign is laid out on your device or in your browser session and is not saved. The address of the page carries your choices, so you can keep or share a link to your design.
