How storage places work

Features

Know which shelf and which box every set is in

Set up rooms, shelves and boxes, and record where every set, minifigure and part lot in your collection is kept.

A storage place has up to three levels: a room, a location inside it – a shelf, a cupboard – and a compartment inside that – a box, a drawer. Every copy in your collection can be placed at any level, or nowhere. Your collection can be filtered by place, and each place shows how many items it holds, with a link to them. A shared collection has its own places, which every member sees and only its owners and editors change. You reorder places with Up and Down buttons, and a place that still holds items or places is not deleted until you have moved them.

How do I record where my LEGO sets are kept?

Open Storage places in the Collection menu and add a room, such as "LEGO room". Add locations to it, such as a shelf or a cupboard, and compartments to those, such as a box or a drawer. Then edit a copy and pick its place, or leave it unplaced. A collection holds up to 50 rooms, 50 locations in a room, 50 compartments in a location and 500 places in all.

Can several people share the same storage places?

Yes. Every collection owns its own tree of places, so a shared collection has its own and every member sees it. Its owners and editors can change it; a member who may only read sees the places but cannot change them. Inviting or removing a member never moves a place, and your own home stays yours.

Who it is for

For collectors whose sets are spread over several rooms, cupboards and boxes, and for families who share one collection and one attic.

What you can do

  • Rooms, locations and compartments: three levels at most.
  • Filter your collection by place and see what each place holds.
  • A shared collection has its own places that every member sees.

How to get started

  1. Open Storage places in the Collection menu and add your first room.
  2. Add locations to it, and compartments to those.
  3. Edit a copy and choose the place it is kept in.

Frequently asked questions

Can I note where each LEGO® set is stored?

Yes. BrickDb's storage places record a room, a location and a compartment, and each copy in your collection can be put in any of them.

Can I see everything that is in one box?

Yes. Each place shows how many items it holds and links to them, and your collection can be filtered by place.

What happens when I delete a place that still holds sets?

BrickDb does not delete it: it says how many items and places are still in it and links to them. Nothing is moved or unassigned unless you do it.
